2.1 Chemical nature:
  Preparation of: Styrene — butadiene — copolymer

3.1 None

Section 4: First aid measures
4.1 If inhaled:
  On inhalation of decomposition products: Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, summon medical help.
4.2 On skin contact: Areas affected by molten material should be quickly placed under cold running water.
4.3 On contact with eyes: Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open.
4.4 On ingestion: No special measures necessary.
4.5 Note to physician: On inhalation of decomposition products: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

Section 5: Fire fighting measures
5.1 Suitable extinguishing media: In case of fire, various kinds of fire extinguishers may be used, water, dry extinguishing media, foam.
5.2 Unsuitable extinguishing media: None.
5.3 Special protective equipment: In case of fire, wear a self contained breathing apparatus.
5.4 The following can be given off in a fire: Carbon dioxide (CO2) and steam.
  In addition small quantities of the following substances can be formed: Carbon monoxide, monomers, other degradation products.
5.5 Further information: Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with local regulations.

6.1 Methods for cleaning up: Sweep/shovel up.

Section 7: Handling and storage
7.1 Handling:
  Gaseous products of degradation can be given off if the product is greatly overheated: Monomers, other degradation products. Avoid inhalation of vapour. Atmospheric air evaluation in accordance with TRGS 402 (Germany).
  When the product is ground (chopped), dust explosion regulations should be noted. (VDI guidelines 3673, 2263 (Germany) ). Processing machines must be fitted with local exhaust ventilation.
  Protection against fire and explosion: No special measures necessary.
7.2 Storage: Keep in a dry place.

  Observe the appropriate MAK value (Germany) ; TRGS 900 (Germany).
  Buta-1,3-diene CAS-No. 106-99-0
  The relevant TRK value (Germany) should be noted; TRGS 100,102 (Germany).
  Buta-1,3-diene: According to animal experiments, the substance can be assumed to be carcinogenic.
  Given suitable ventilation, it can be assumed that the threshold limits will not be reached.
8.3 Personal protective equipment: Respiratory protection: If breathable dust is formed Filter P1 (for solid particles) (DIN 3181).
  Eye protection: Safety glasses with free flowing granules.

9.8 Softening Point: 20-60C (DIN 53460)
9.9 Ignition temperature: >370C (DIN 51594)

10.1 Conditions to avoid: To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat. Thermal decomposition: 320C (approx)
10.2 Possible thermal degradation products: Monomers and degradation products.

11.1 Acute toxicity: No data available. Insoluble in water.

Section 12: Ecological information
12.1 Elimination information: Insoluble in water.
12.2 Behaviour and environmental fate: Due to the consistency of the product, and its insolubility in water, it will apparently not be bioavailable.

Section 13: Disposal considerations
13.1 Product: Must be dumped or incinerated in accordance with local regulations.

14.1 Not classified as hazardous under transport regulations.
